LIVING WELL-TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH!

All people with ongoing health conditions such as Arthritis, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Asthma, Cancer, Depression, Fibromyalgia, Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Parkinson’s and Anxiety would benefit from Living Well classes. Living Well is also for individuals who care for people with chronic conditions. A new Living Well class is being offered in Hastings beginning in February. Classes meet every Tuesday at the Landmark Center on West 2nd Street for six weeks, from Tuesday, February 21 through Tuesday, March 27 . Each class begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at noon. Classes are free of charge but seating is limited. Pre-registration is required. Please call Midland Area Agency on Aging at 402-463-4565 ext. 306 to pre-register or to inquire about the class.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
begins on March 11. Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour. Also while you are doing this, don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. If you need assistance with changing the batteries we have volunteers that will come out and do this for you at no cost. ACSS also has free smoke detectors for individuals 60 years of age and older. Please call 463-4439 to inquire.
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK: APRIL 15-21
This is the special time of the year when we recognize our volunteers and the many contributions they make. Adams County Senior Services’ volunteers serve in so many ways-delivering home delivered meals, home visits, installing smoke detectors, setting tables, working the meal registration and check in table, serving meals, clean up and busing tables, presenting programs, preparing newsletters for mailing, taking blood pressures, decorating the dining room, serving on councils and the Board of Directors-sharing time and talents in countless ways. Your kindness and your smile, warm hearts through and through, makes us so grateful for everything you do. Tomorrow will be brighter, thanks to Volunteers like you!
A DAY OF CARING-HASTINGS AUDITORIUM, APRIL 21: 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
This event is a relaxing day with informational sessions, a resource fair, relaxation booths and a luncheon at no charge. This special day lets caregivers take a break, learn some new care giving techniques, coping mechanisms and share with other caregivers. To register, call Jinx at 463-8124.
WINTER WEATHER POLICY
If the weather is stormy, the streets icy, etc., be sure to listen to KHAS Radio (1230 AM) and KHAS TV (Channel 5) to see if ACSS meals and other services have been cancelled. The rule for center meals is if you are registered for a day meals are cancelled, your name will remain on the list for the next serving day. If you wish to cancel, please call the office by 9:30 a.m. (463-4439). Menu will carry over to the next day.
